Can I Fix It?

In short the answer is absolutely NOT. Here in the Territory we have an abundance of work opportunities which lends itself to house a lot of Tradies, some with experience, and some not.
Even if you are qualified as an electrician, plumber or the like, it is inappropriate for you tend to works in your rental property without prior authorisation. This bares nothing on your capabilities as a skilled worker in your chosen field but more about protecting the owner and their investment. For instance, if you were to try and tend to works on an item and then failing to fix the issue you report it to your Property Manager, the contractor being sent out may refuse to work on the said item. How could a contractor guarantee their work if they dont know what has been completed prior to them? In order to protect their own integrity and that of their companies, some contractors have refused to tend to works that have obviously been "dodgy jobs" and rightly so!
And what about the owners Warranty? Having unqualified or unrecognised qualifications can result in voiding the owners warranty altogether. Would you risk it? By employing one of the many qualified, experienced and professional contractors that we have to choose from here in Darwin, we are ensuring quality of work, maintaining any warranties and protecting our owners investment. Sounds like a winning combination! So please remember, just because you can, doesnt mean that you should.
